How-To Lists

A remote safety audit could be done in about a day without any need to travel to the site. The client would video their crew working and then upload the video to an internet Dropbox. We would review it and provide a voice-over critique on the video, pointing out both good and bad moves. The client would retrieve the critiqued video from Dropbox. We would also include a written report.

The video should be kept to about 30 minutes.  (1 GB)

GSOR Preview   The GSOR rules are intended to enhance rail yard safety. The rules cover employee responsibilities, procedures for safe rail car movement, and dealing with other topics that directly affect railroad safety.

Use the Hotline when you need clarification of a railroad switching move or concept. The Expert Hotline will be available to our clients during a subscription period.

A library of How-To videos will be available to review the proper operation of a switch, a derail, a hand brake, getting on and off equipment, working around the yard, and riding rail cars.

Some videos will even cover what NOT to do.

There is a group of How-To lists available to you. The lists provide step-by-step instructions to complete each task. Some of the individual tasks are, How-To: Operate a switch, a derail, and a hand brake. Getting on and off equipment. Protecting shoves. Securing rail cars, etc.

Using these lists and the Safety Audit form, you can now perform a safety audit, understanding if your rail crews are working safely or not.

These documents can now be placed into your training files that OSHA and others will want to see following a rail incident.

The client can send us a copy of their current railroad SOP. It will be reviewed and a list of recommendations for improvement will be sent back to them. The time could vary, but it should take approximately 8 hours to complete.

The Safety Audit Form is a great tool to determine the safety level that your rail crew is working. The form covers the entire shift, from beginning to end.
